Inside Line Promotions – YORK HAVEN, Pa. (May 10, 2017) – Trey Starks had a strong first half of the night last Sunday at Susquehanna Speedway, where he was in contention for a top-10 result before a mid-race crash derailed the night.

Starks and the Gobrecht Motorsports team opened the action by qualifying second quickest before Starks powered from fourth to win a heat race.

“It was a really good to start to the night,” he said. “We laid down a really good qualifying lap and went from fourth to win our heat race, which was fantastic.”

Unfortunately, the No. 8 was drawn for the dash inversion. That started Starks on the inside of the fourth row. He finished eighth to line up in that position for the main event.

“We weren’t very good in the beginning of the A Main, but once the fuel load started to burn off we moved forward,” he said. “We were running around 10th midway through the race. We came off a corner and made contact with another driver on the exit. The track was pretty tricky on the exit and got tight. Unfortunately, we made contact, which spun us around. The leader hit us nose to nose wide open. It was probably the hardest hit I’ve had in a sprint car.”

Starks was unable to resume action and he was credited with a 23rd-place finish.

“That’s what they build spare parts for,” he said. “Luckily, everyone was ok. We’ll regroup and move along.”

It was the only event of the weekend as races at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa., and at Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, Pa., rained out.

The team is scheduled to compete this Friday and Saturday at Eldora Speedway near Rossburg, Ohio, with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series.
