Freeman Battles Through Huge Field at Nolan Wren Memorial

Inside Line Promotions – WILLIS, Texas (May 9, 2017) – A week ago Cody Freeman thought he would have to sit out of racing while repairs were made to his ‘A’ class winged 600cc micro sprint after a tumble at Superbowl Speedway in Greenville, Texas.

With a lot of hard work and long hours, Freeman and his father, Nick, ordered the parts and got the race car ready for the 5th annual Nolan Wren Memorial last Saturday at Gator Motorplex.

Cody Freeman faced a huge field of 58 ‘A’ class competitors. The initial pill draw was an omen for things to come for Freeman as he drew the No. 48, starting him fourth in the eighth and final heat race.

“The track was one lane on the bottom and I had to start on the outside,” he said. “I couldn’t get down to the bottom right away and had to settle for fourth. That put us in the C Main and we won that.”

The C Main victory transferred Freeman into the ninth starting position in one of two B Mains with the top five advancing to the A Main.

“I had a car hold me up for about five laps,” he said. “I used the bumper to move some people. I guess I should have used it more. We finished sixth. To be that close to making the A Main out of that many cars … we were fast.

“I really want to thank my dad and grandpa for all the hard work getting the car back together. I can’t wait to get back on the track again.”

Freeman is tentatively scheduled to return to action on May 19 at RPM Speedway in Crandall, Texas.
