Inside Line Promotions – PARK CITY, Kan. (May 8, 2017) – Hopefully the bad luck is out of the way for Mark Burch Motorsports, which kicked off its 2017 campaign last Saturday at 81 Speedway.

The team and driver Danny Lasoski opened the Kansas Outlaw Klassic with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series by qualifying 19th quickest overall.

“First, it’s great being back with Mark,” Lasoski said. “He’s had a long winter and has been itching to get back. Saturday was one of those nights where we were never caught up. We had a brand new race car and engine combination that was giving us trouble.”

Lasoski finished where he started – seventh – in a heat race to narrowly miss locking into the main event. He then advanced from fourth to second place in the Last Chance Showdown to garner a transfer into the back of the main event.

“Every time I got on the track I’d run five laps and the engine temperature would start climbing,” Lasoski said. “It turns out the head gaskets were leaking.”

Lasoski gained a few positions during the first half of the main event before he was caught up in a crash with approximately a dozen laps remaining.

“I had just got lapped by Donny Schatz and normally whenever I get lapped I pull in, but since it was our first night of the season I kept hustling to see if I was doing something wrong,” he said. “We came down the backstretch and another car just stopped right in front of us. Schatz hit him and I hit Schatz. It tore up a lot of our stuff.”

Mark Burch Motorsports was unable to restart the race and was credited with a 22nd-place finish.

“Sometimes you have that the first race of the season,” Lasoski said. “The tough teams keep working hard and it will pay off in the long run.”

TEAM JACK APPAREL –

Mark Burch Motorsports will have unique Team Jack Foundation t-shirts for sale at the race trailer throughout this season with 100 percent of the money received going to the Team Jack Foundation.

SPONSOR SPOTLIGHT – Team Jack Foundation

The Team Jack Foundation was established to raise money to fund impactful pediatric brain cancer research and to create national awareness for the disease. The Team Jack Foundation got its start when Jack Hoffman, who is a 10-year-old from Atkinson, Neb., was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2011. Hoffman battled life-threatening surgeries and debilitating seizures as doctors scrambled to save his life.

During that time his family reached out to the University of Nebraska in hopes that Hoffman could meet Rex Burkhead, who was the star running back for the football team. They met in September 2011 and a friendship was born, which was also featured on ESPN. Burkhead’s support earned him the Rare Disease Champion Award presented by Uplifting Athletes.

As of January 2014, the Team Jack movement has raised $2.5 million and counting for pediatric brain cancer research. The Team Jack Foundation is working with world renowned researchers, directly, to develop relevant and impactful research initiatives.

“We are extremely happy to support the Team Jack Foundation and its mission,” Burch said. “The Team Jack Foundation is something that is special to me. We want to do all we can within the grass roots level of dirt racing where we are known to promote the awareness of pediatric cancer and hopefully help raise additional funds for research to cure the disease.”
