Inside Line Promotions – BEDFORD, Pa. (May 3, 2017) – Caleb Helms had a busy weekend with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions last weekend when the series ventured into Pennsylvania Posse territory.

The weekend kicked off on Friday at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa., where Helms timed in 24th quickest overall and sixth in his group.

“You really have to be on your A-game when you head out to Pennsylvania and compete with the All Stars as well,” he said.

Helms finished sixth in a heat race and fifth in the B Main. He was forced to take a provisional to start at the back of the main event and he finished 25th.

“We were battling being tight, or so I thought, but really the car just didn’t have the right attitude most of the night,” he said. “We just missed the transfer spot in the heat race and then just missed it in the B Main as well so we had to take a provisional because we’re still running for points. We know what we need to do to be a lot better.”

On Saturday, Helms and the All Stars traveled to Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal, Pa. Helms showed speed timing in 11th quickest – third in his group¬ – during qualifying.

“We started out a lot better on Saturday,” he said. “We got our head straight and got the car a lot closer to where it needed to be.”

A quick qualifying time and runner-up finish in a heat race sent Helms to the dash, in which he finished fourth.

“Again, we were dealing with the car being too tight exiting the corner,” he said. “I thought that would be a good problem to have on a slick race track, but it was just a little bit too much. I didn’t make the right changes I should have from the cockpit to adjust.”

Helms started the feature from the inside of the fourth row and managed a 14th-place result.

“It was a good race for us, but I feel like it could have been better and that comes from us not having a lot of laps around that place either,” he said. “I feel that if we would have stayed up top more, we would have made more passes and got the finish we deserved.”

The weekend wrapped up on Sunday at Bedford Speedway. Helms timed in quickest in his qualifying group and seventh overall. His qualifying effort started him on the outside of the second row of a heat race and a runner-up finish advanced him into the dash for the second night in a row.

Helms ended the dash with a fourth-place result, starting him on the outside of the fourth row for the main event.

“I think that I was the only one running the top in qualifying and it paid off,” he said. “We got the car better for the dash and battled with (Dale) Blaney for a little bit before he got by us, but we still were set up for a decent starting spot.”

After 30 circuits around Bedford Speedway, Helms brought home a seventh-place result. It marked his sixth top-10 finish of the season.

Helms is scheduled to compete this Friday at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa., and Saturday at Mercer Raceway Park in Mercer, Pa., with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions.
