Inside Line Promotions – WINDOM, Minn. (April 19, 2017) – With fingers crossed for positive weather, Big Game Motorsports and Kerry Madsen are venturing back to Knoxville Raceway this Saturday for its 64th annual season opener.
The scheduled opener last Saturday at the half-mile oval in Knoxville, Iowa, rained out and left the Muddy sponsored team without an opportunity to compete.
“We were able to get some laps on the track earlier that week and the car felt very fast,” Madsen said. “We had some great lap times so we were really looking forward to the race, but Mother Nature intervened and we’ve had to be patient for another week.”
Hopefully the patience pays off for the team, which has claimed the last two owners championships at Knoxville Raceway. Madsen is also a former track champion as he captured the crown in 2005.
“Guy Forbrook, the team and myself have all had a lot of success at Knoxville,” he said. “I think we have all the pieces to contend for a win not only this Saturday, but any time we race at Knoxville. It’s a great track and I always look forward to racing there.”
Madsen has 19 career feature wins at Knoxville Raceway, including two victories last season. He also finished with five top fives and seven top 10s in nine races in 2016 to extend a streak of multiple top fives in each of the last four years.
