26 Promotions – Peoria, AZ – (April 18th, 2017) – After a two-race absence, Michael Colegrove found his way back to Victory Lane on Saturday night while Scotty Milan completed the weekend sweep in the Restricted division.
For the second straight night, 20 winged Power 600 Series – Precision Tile Micro Sprints checked into Canyon Speedway Park. Kyle Huttenhow, Dale Eliason Jr, and Mason Keefer picked up Heat race wins. Michael Colegrove started 4th in Heat 3 and worked his way up to a 2nd place finish, finishing 3rd in Heat race passing points lined Colegrove up 4th for the 25-lap Feature.
Colegrove worked his way up to 2nd before the first caution of the night on lap 9. After the restart, Colegrove and Friday night’s Feature winner, Mason Keefer, would trade the lead twice in the following three laps. Colegrove would take over the position coming out of turn 2, but caution would wave before the lap could be completed. Colegrove continued to challenge Keefer throughout the rest of the race, searching high and low but Keefer would fend him off each time. Colegrove remained on Keefer’s tail tank waiting for an opportunity to take the lead. With five to go, Keefer slid up the track out of turn 2 giving Colegrove the opening he had looked for. Colegrove led the final five laps to obtain his third victory of the year. Mason Keefer and Colton Hardy completed the podium with Kyle Huttenhow and Dale Eliason Jr rounding out the Top 5.
Scotty Milan’s been on fire lately in the Restricted class and that continued Saturday night. Milan scored the Heat race win from the third starting position, after grabbing the lead from Kaiden Clark entering turn 3 just passed the halfway point of the Heat. The third to first run would earn Milan high point honors in passing points, lining him up 4th in the Feature.
Milan grabbed 2nd away from Stephen Simpson III on lap 3 entering turn 3, two laps later he’d try to make the same move for the lead but made contact with Cameron LaRose resulting in Milan spinning in turn 4. Milan worked his way back up through the field and raced LaRose side by side for the lead in the closing laps. Milan took over the lead exiting turn 2 on the final lap to pull off the weekend sweep and his 4th win in a row.
