Coming Up: Park City Cup/Air Capital Shootout At 81-Speedway

TULSA, Okla. (April 17, 2017) Pushed back due to the wrath of Mother Nature, the Park City Cup/Air Capital Shootout at Park City’s 81-Speedway makeup is nearly upon us as the National Championship Racing Association (NCRA) teams up with the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Red River Region presented by Smiley’s Racing Products for a Midwest showdown on Friday, April 21 and Saturday, April 22.

According to the NCRA website, the format for the event will follow a similar tone to ASCS Regional events. Drivers will draw in each day for their starting position in Heat Race competition with the ASCS Passing Point scale used to move on into ‘A’ or ‘B’ Features. The A-Feature both nights will start 24 cars with no Provisionals. Friday, April 21 will see the winner pocket $1,500 while Saturday, April 22 will up that to $15,000 to the winner and $1,000 just too start to start the championship event.

From statistics supplied by Warren Hardy with NCRA, 118 drivers have taken part in the Park City Cup/Air Capital Shootout since its inception in 2011 where Missouri’s Danny Lasoski picked up the victory. The driver called “The Dude” returned to Victory Lane in 2015. The only other driver with two wins is former ASCS National Tour Champion, Jason Johnson, who went back-to-back in 2012 and 2013. Tennessee’s Kevin Swindell topped the field in 2014, and the defending champion is Derek Hagar from Marion, Ark.

The last time the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Red River Region presented by Smiley’s Racing Products graced the 81-Speedway was June 28, 2015 with Tony Bruce, Jr. parking the Ochs Racing No.1x in Victory Lane. Bruce also picked up the Steve King Memorial the night before at Dodge City Raceway Park. The only other Kansas oval to see action with the ASCS Red River Region is Humboldt Speedway where Kyle Bellm won in 2016.

For the ASCS Red River / NCRA showdown at 81-Speedway, both nights will open at 4:00 P.M. with Hot Laps at 6:30 P.M. and racing at 7:30 P.M. (CT). Admission each day is $22 for adults with children 11 and under admitted into the Grandstands free of charge. With a field of 50 plus expected to be on hand, 81-Speedway officials encourage teams to arrive early for parking so as to get everyone in and settled as smoothly as possible.
