National Midgets and Micros Eye Belle-Clair, Spring Classic at I-55

Belleville, IL – After a weekend off, the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League and POWRi Speedway Motors 600cc Outlaw Micro League look to the Midwest kick off at Belle-Clair Speedway on Friday, April 21st. Saturday, April 22nd the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League will take to Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 to run alongside the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars in the Spring Classic.

At last year’s Midwest kick off at Belle-Clair Speedway, Andrew Felker came out victorious to go two-in-a-row with the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League, continuing a hot streak. Defending series champion, Nathan Benson stole the POWRi Speedway Motors 600cc Outlaw Micro League show from Slater Helt, patiently waiting for the duo to enter lap traffic and using veteran experience to snag the win.

With rain taking a toll on Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 and forcing the cancellation of the 2016 Spring Classic, fans are eagerly looking to the 2017 Spring Classic on April 22nd for a thrilling experience. A track that never disappoints, the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League always keeps everyone on the edge of their seats, including the drivers, when they invade I-55. If the Iron Man Weekend of late 2016 is any indication of the racing that fans can look forward to, the high-banked 1/3rd mile is sure to deliver. Making one of a handful of appearances in a midget in 2016, Brad Loyet took the preliminary night victory, and held off hard-charging Garrett Aitken and Jake Neuman. Rebounding from a bout of tough luck in the preliminary show, Zach Daum came back and went one-two with teammate Kyle Jones, followed by Dave Darland for the Ironman Finale.
