Inside Line Promotions – CHILLICOTHE, Ohio (April 13, 2017) – Caleb Helms overcame an early miscue to capture a top-10 finish with Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions last Sunday at Atomic Speedway.

Helms opened the event timing in 14th quickest overall in qualifying. His qualifying result, which ranked fourth in his group, lined him up on the pole for a heat race. Helms took the green flag and made it through turns one and two before losing the handle of the car, ultimately resulting in a spin. He restarted at the tail of the field and ended eighth.

“We started on the pole for the heat race and I wasn’t able to get a good jump to begin with,” he said. “(Lee) Jacobs got a better run on us and I tried to cut and block him, but we ended up spinning. We said we wanted to have the car loose enough to spin out to start with and unfortunately we did.”

Helms was relegated to the B Main, which he won to transfer into the 21st starting position in the main event.

“We tightened the car up for the B Main and won that,” he said. “We tightened it up even more for the feature and the car was good after that. I really thought the track was taking a lot of rubber, so we stayed on the bottom trying to protect the position. If we would have moved up to find a faster groove I think we would have passed a few more cars and broke into the top five. The car was definitely better than the result.”

Helms charged to a 10th-place result, which was his third straight top 10.

He is scheduled to be back in action this Saturday at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio, with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions.

In other news, everyone at Inside Line Promotions extends our congratulations and blessings to Helms and his wife, Shelby, who welcomed their second son, Larry “Judah” Helms, into the world on Tuesday.
