Covington Motorsports rolled into the Lake of the Ozarks Speedway hoping to have a much needed good run, but in the end it would turned out to be a very disappointing evening. As the heat was turned up and pushing a 100 degrees, so would the competion. With well over 50 cars in the pits, the draw was very important. Matt would not be so lucky and drew a very high 71, starting him 9th for the heat race. Matt would drive up to 7th and was passing for 6th when him and another car got together. The incident would cause Matt to tip over, putting his heat race action to an end. The poor finish in the heat would start Matt at the tail of the B-main. With repairs made to the Maxim/Wesmar sprinter, Matt would try to work his way through the field in the B-main. From the 12th postion Matt would only be able to drive up the 7th on the dry slick race track.
The Covington Motorsports team will re-group and work toward getting the handle on the race car for these hot summer months. The next race on the schedule is Riverside Speedway in West Memphis. This 2-day race has been named the Rock 'N Roll 50, as it will be a 50 Lap race. Stay in tune with Matt through the team website, www.mattcovington95.com and a very special thanks goes out to T&L Foundry, C.G. Martin Company, Motorsports Trailers, Pro Shocks, Keizer Wheels, Butler Built Race Seats, Maxim Racing Chassis, Simpson Race Products and Schoenfeld Headers
