26 Promotions – Peoria, AZ – (April 4th, 2017) – Clay Sprau had the best run of his young career going Saturday Night before contact and damage ended his night early for the second race in a row.
Sprau’s night kicked off with a 7th place start in Heat 3. The field would stack up in front of Sprau entering turn 1 on the initial start, by the time he was clear the field had spread out only allowing him to pick up one position about halfway through the 8-lap race.
The result was enough to transfer Sprau straight into the Feature, where he would have to tag the field, due to his rookie status, for the last time this season.
“The car was a little tight in the heat,” said Sprau. “But we didn’t make any changes for the Main hoping the track would come to us.”
Starting 19th, Sprau avoided wrecks and worked his way into the top 10, eventually getting up to 7th place. Sprau’s run would come to an end just passed the halfway point of Saturday night’s Feature.
“After a restart, two cars in front of me got together That sent one of the cars into the infield, which came back onto the track right in front of me,” explained Sprau. “I had nowhere to go and we made contact which knocked off my throttle bodies and ended our night.”
Sprau would be credited with a 12th place finish.
Sprau will have the week off to get the damaged repaired but returns to racing action on April 14th and 15th at Canyon Speedway Park for the Easter Eggstravaganza.
Clay Sprau would like to thank Resolute Performance Contracting for coming on board as an official sponsor of Streaker Racing and Play-It Again Sports for sponsoring the Power 600 Recognition Award.
