Inside Line Promotions – GREENVILLE, Texas (April 3, 2017) – Zane Lawrence collected a pair of top-five finishes last weekend with the NCRA Sprint Car Bandits Series in his home state of Texas.
Lawrence kicked off the doubleheader on Friday at Heart O’ Texas Speedway in Waco, Texas, by finishing where he started – second – in a heat race.
“The track started slicking off some so there wasn’t much passing in the heat race,” he said.
The heat race finish lined him up on the outside of the third row for the main event at the quarter-mile oval.
“It still was slicked off at the beginning of our feature, but then it started taking rubber,” he said. “There was some passing, but really you just had to boot people off the bottom to be able to make a pass.”
Lawrence was able to maneuver his way into the top three and he held on to that position to earn his first podium finish of the season.
On Saturday, Lawrence traveled to the familiar track of Superbowl Speedway. He picked up a position to place fourth in a heat race, which lined him up on the inside of the seventh row in the main event.
“The track had slicked off a lot, but it was good,” he said. “We just kind of ran the bottom the majority of the race and were able to make our way up toward the front.”
Lawrence charged from 13th to a fifth-place result, which was his third top five this season.
He is scheduled to return to action with the ASCS Gulf South Region this Friday and Saturday at Jackson Motor Speedway in Byram, Miss. Lawrence is tied for fourth place in the ASCS Gulf South Region championship standings – only 43 points out of the lead.
