Coming Up: A $5,000 Weekend At The Southern New Mexico Speedway For ASCS Southwest Region

TULSA, Okla. (March 23, 2017) A trip to the Southern New Mexico Speedway could be a nice payday for the competitors of the Carlyle Tools ASCS Southwest Region as the race track in Las Cruces, N.M., offers up two nights of competition on Friday, March 31, and Saturday, April 1, worth a combined $5,000 to win.

Paying $2,500 to win and $225 to start each night, the ASCS Southwest Sprint Car Shootout presented by Consolidated Solar Technology has already garnered the attention of Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour competitors like Johnny Herrera, who has confirmed he will be in attendance.

Looking back to the 2016 event, which brought drivers from as far as Montana to compete, it was El Paso’s John Carney II who swept the weekend over a field of 28 competitors.

Along with a solid payday, the fourth-place finisher on Friday will get a free right rear tire from Hoosier. On Saturday, the free Hoosier right rear tire will go to the fifth-place driver. When the series returns in July, the Friday portion will see another tire going to the sixth-place driver, and on Saturday that freebie goes to seventh place.

The first of a pair of stops for the Carlyle Tools ASCS Southwest Region in 2017, the series is slated to return on Friday and Saturday, July 28-29. The combined four races will be a challenge series for the Southwest Region dubbed the Ultimate Showdown with the Southern New Mexico Speedway offering up a $1,000 bonus, wings from Elite Wings and a one-of-a-kind championship belt for the driver accumulating the most points. Second gets $300 and third will receive $200.

Friday, March 31, and Saturday, April 1, will open at 5 p.m. with races getting underway at 7:45 (Mountain Time). Admission Friday night is $12 with kids 10 and under admitted into the grandstands free of charge. Saturday is $15 with kids 10 and under still getting in free. Both nights will also feature Sun Valley Hardware USRA Stock Cars, Super Trucks and the Casa Nissan Legends Cars.
