Inside Line Promotions – SPRINGFIELD, Neb. (March 22, 2017) – Jack Dover is focused on the prize this weekend when he will kick off the 2017 racing season at 81 Speedway for the $15,000-to-win Park City Cup/Air Capital Shootout with the NCRA.
“Coming off the winter when we spent a lot of money on new parts it’d be a good start to the season to add a little money to the racing account,” he said. “My confidence is pretty high because everything went really well this winter. We have a lot of spare parts and two race ready cars so I’m not worried about if we wreck. And Chris Moss busted his rear the least couple of weeks to get my engine finished for this weekend.”
Dover will take a fresh engine and newly pieced together race car into the doubleheader on Friday and Saturday at the 3/8-mile oval in Park City, Kan., where he has visited Victory Lane numerous times throughout his career.
“We’ve won there a lot,” he said. “I think we’ve won seven or eight times. That’s a huge confidence booster. I think that track suits my driving style. The only thing is it’s the first race of the year so you never know what can happen.”
Dover has started his season with a strong result in recent years. In fact, he won his 2013 opener and has earned a top-five finish during three of the last six years.
“That’d be huge for the first race and as big of a race as this is to come out with a win or top five,” he said. “The competition that will be there is stacked. Some of the guys racing this weekend have raced 10 times already. It’d be a huge confidence booster to contend for a win or two.”
