DEADLINES FAST APPROACHING, 34 Raceway opener nears. BE READY!

The Bumper To Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint 410 series opens at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, IA on April 8th. There are some things which need to be done on a timely basis to make April easier for both our teams and staff. We are not providing transponders for free anymore, the time has come for member teams to own their own. We use the Westhold transponder and we can order them for you, you can purchase on your own, or you can rent them for $10 at each event. Discounted memberships expire on April 1, don't wait til race day as it will cost you more. Please don't procrastinate! 2017 rules and procedures have been posted. We made some format changes and want teams to understand the changes to avoid confusion on opening night. Also, I have received my initial tire order, and can make arrangements for teams to pick them up in advance. So in closing, to insure opening night goes well for our members we need memberships in ASAP, order transponders or be prepared to rent with cost being $10 at pill draw, and read the updated rulebook which has been posted at www.irasprints.com Also, tire bills and transponder rentals are separate items, we can not deduct from purse checks any longer. It slows down the process and messes up our books. These are separate services. Teams, we ask that you be prepared, it'll make April much more enjoyable for all of us. Thank You.
Also, I'm asking for support in getting some very well deserving people into the SE WI Short Track Hall of Fame. For those on the ballot, this is a big honor. 35 nominees appear on the ballot with only 10 being inducted, and this is a stout class with the likes of a Dick Trickle appearing on the noninee list. I am asking for the support for a few that are not typical to the list, but they excelled in their unique field and absolutely deserve this honor. While there are several deserving candidates, I am particularly requesting your vote for a particular few which include the safety pioneer in our region Gil Radtke who spent 45 years going up and down the road trying to keep racers safe (including many with us.. and hopefully a few more too), the late Harry Neitzel and his partner Rick Lemanski who appear on the ballot together under R&H Enterprises for their years servicing the racing community and our series for so many years. There are many deserving nominees on the ballot this year and others who would represent IRA in the HOF well include Mike Frost, Mike Babicz, and Gary Schlafer. Ballots appear in the Vintage Modified Stock Car Newsletter, and you must be a member to vote. To join, send a check for $20 payable to: Vintage Modified Stock Car 3321 S. 54th St Milwaukee, WI 53219. Ballots (LIKE OUR MEMBERSHIPS) are due by April 1. So get your subscription in and vote. You can also check out Southeastern Wisconsin Short Track Hall of Fame Good cause, wonderful venue.
In closing, I am asking for teams not to procrastinate, please take care of memberships, transponder ordering, and even tire ordering if you're looking for specific tires before or on opening night. It puts a great deal of pressure on the staff opening night when member teams come unprepared, and it takes time away from us when we need to be getting ready to run a race.
Thanks,
Steve
