Eliason JR Earns Rookie of the Year Honors, Gears Up for Tulsa Shootout

26 Promotions - Phoenix, AZ - (December 11th, 2016) – Dale Eliason JR just wrapped up his rookie season running with the Power 600 Series in Phoenix. Eliason JR, one of the younger competitors to strap in this year at 12 years of age, showed he wasn’t afraid to go toe to toe with some of the veteran Arizona drivers picking up one top 5’s and two Top 10 finishes during the Winter Challenge back in January.

As the Power 600 Series inaugural year officially got underway in February, Eliason Jr continuously showed improvement and earn the respect of his fellow competitors as he would finish no worse than 10th in the first 6 races to start the year. Eliason JR would have a little hiccup after that, finishing the next two races outside of the Top 10, but he would rebound and continue to rack up the Top 10’s.
During the Power 600 Series summer break, Eliason Motorsports would pack up and head over to California to run CA Speedweek against some of the best micro sprint drivers in the country. Racing in the Restricted division during CA Speedweek Eliason JR would make the Feature 3 of the 4 nights finishing as high as 8th during the final night in Lemoore.

After CA Speedweek the team would take about 2 months off before heading up to Show Low, AZ at the beginning of September to get back in rhythm before the Power 600 Series started back up. Running in California and taking a small breather appeared to help Eliason JR as he rocketed to a 3rd and 4th place finish that weekend. The Power 600 Series started back up a few weeks later, where again Eliason JR would pick up another Top 10 finish. The following race weekend was one that included a rare finish outside of the Top 10, JR would finish 11th on Friday night of the Hall of Fame Classic, but he would come back strong the following night finishing 4th. The final race weekend of the Power 600 Series season saw Eliason JR doing double duty, as he would pilot the Ellis Racing 21 Restrictor car. Eliason ended the season strong picking up his first win of 2016 in the Restricted division and wrapping up the Power 600 Series Rookie of the Year in the Multi division with an 8th place finish.

Eliason Motorsports is now gearing up to make the trek to Tulsa, OK for the 32nd Annual Tulsa Shooting. Eliason JR will be making his Tulsa debut running in both the Restricted ‘A’ Class and Winged A-Class. The Restricted division currently sits at 55 entries while the Winged A-Class is at stout 132 entries. Eliason JR will have to beat the best in the country to pick up a famed Golden Driller statue, but he’s shown so far in his young career that he won’t back down from a challenge.
