That’s how long it had been since Dale Eliason Jr had strapped into his Dale Eliason Racing powered PMP Chassis 04j micro. The last time Eliason Jr was laying down laps was in the Tulsa Expo Center during the Restricted A Class Main at the 32nd Annual Tulsa Shootout. Eliason Jr would end up finishing 22nd out of the 74 Restricted cars entered.
Currently scheduled to run 24 races this year, Eliason Jr’s focus will be on the Power 600 Series title in Arizona, but he will make a summer trip to California for the Outlaw Nationals and California Speedweek and will end the year in Tulsa for the 33rd Annual Tulsa Shootout.
The pursuit for that Power 600 Series title began Saturday night at Canyon Speedway Park. 22 Wing 600’s signed in for the event. Pill draw would determine the starting spots for the 3 Heat races. Eliason Jr would end up starting outside the front row in Heat 3.
“We made a couple adjustments after the hot laps,” he said. “We made the car tighter to get it to hook up better.”
Eliason Jr would finish his heat in 2nd.
“I didn’t want to make a move that would put us in a bad position,” said Eliason Jr. “I went to the bottom as fast as I could, held my line and stayed behind the leader.”
Eliason would start 2nd in the 20 lap Feature. He would take the lead on lap 9 after the leader made contact with a lap car entering turn 3. Eliason Jr would remain in the lead until lap 13.
“We were set up to run the bottom,” said Eliason Jr. “He (Michael Colegrove) found a way on top and went around me.”
Eliason Jr would finish with a solid 2nd place run to start the season.
His next race is scheduled for this coming Saturday, March 11th running Non-Wing at Canyon Speedway Park.
