TULSA, Okla. (January 27, 2017) As teams ready for the start of the 2017 season across the American Sprint Car Series, teams will be given a grace period to conform with the new safety rule regarding wheel covers now required to be held in place with a minimum of 5 dzus fasteners.
“Our concern is safety for the teams and the fans which is why we are going to the 5 dzus rule on wheel covers, but we also want to give teams enough time to get everything in place,” explained ASCS National Director, Matt Ward. “With Knoxville, World of Outlaws, etc. going to this style of rule as well, it gets everyone close to the same page and gives us a season to look at possible changes going forward to make the series better for everyone.”
The grace period is set to coincide with the June 1, 2017 deadline for teams to file for their ASCS Memberships.
