Inside Line Promotions – TULSA, Okla. (Jan. 12, 2017) – The 31st edition of the Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals Presented by General Tire is 2-for-2 with first-time preliminary winners through the first two nights.
Travis Berryhill took the lead for good midway through the main event on Wednesday en route to his monumental victory at the premier midget event inside the River Spirit Expo Center. Jake Swanson charged from 18th to the runner-up result with Colby Copeland rounding out the podium to also lock into Saturday’s A Main.
A total of 178 drivers have competed in the first two nights of competition with approximately 90 more on tap for Thursday’s third round of action, which will be broadcast live thanks to the RacinBoys Broadcasting Network.
The broadcast will feature multiple cameras, enhanced graphics, replays and more. Hot laps are slated for 4 p.m. (Central) with heat races at 5 p.m. (Central). The price is only $25. Also, the RacinBoys Broadcasting Network will present the post-race press conference live free of charge. Viewers just need to log in to the RacinBoys website to view.

Following Tyler Courtney’s emotional win during Round 1 on Tuesday, Berryhill used the bottom groove to his advantage to maneuver from fifth into the lead by Lap 4 during Wednesday’s A Main. He led for a half-dozen laps before being passed. However, Berryhill regained the top spot on Lap 13 and held off a charging Swanson for the win.
Thursday’s field of drivers include Jerry Coons Jr., NASCAR driver Justin Allgaier, 2016 Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour champion Sam Hafertepe Jr., 2005 Chili Bowl winner Tracy Hines, 2016 Knoxville Nationals winner Jason Johnson, 2016 USAC sprint car champion Brady Bacon and NASCAR rising star Christopher Bell to name a few.
Scott Traylor anchors the Lucas Oil Chili Bowl coverage with Bryan Gapinski, Justin Zoch, Brian Ward, Lenny Batycki and Jim Childers among the RacinBoys voices. Scotty Cook will conduct driver interviews from the pits and Victory Lane throughout the week. Four-time Chili Bowl champion Kevin Swindell will be part of the announcing crew on Thursday and Friday as well.
Nationally known motor sports writer Reid Spencer will provide exclusive content daily during the Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Midget Nationals on the RacinBoys website. The premium section of the RacinBoys website will have additional video content not only from the Chili Bowl, but other events throughout the year as well.
