TULSA, Okla. (November 17, 2016) The eighth season of competition for the Carlyle Tools ASCS Southwest Region is about to draw to a close, and it’ll do so with a bang as the Copper Classic heats up the Arizona Speedway in Queen Creek, Ariz. on Friday, November 25 and Saturday, November 26.
An action packed weekend to follow everyone’s “Turkey Coma”, over $25,000 is up for grabs for the drivers of the ASCS Southwest Region.
Friday’s opener will offer up $2,000 to win and $225 to start, while Saturday’s finale ups the winner’s share to $5,000 with drivers who make the feature earning at least $300.
Opening up some breathing room following events at the Cocopah Speedway with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour, New Mexico’s Rick Ziehl is far from comfortable in his quest for his ninth consecutive title. Holding a 37 point edge over Colton Hardy, the pair are both being stalked by Bob Ream, Jr. who tails the top spot by 69 markers.
Lance Norick holds a comfortable position in fourth with New Mexico’s Jesse Baker holding fifth. Casey Buckman, Cody Sickles, Darrell Sickles, James Mosher, and James Aragon complete the top-ten in tour standings.
Along with the Carlyle Tools ASCS Southwest Region, the NAPA Non-Wing Sprint Cars will also be on hand both nights with Friday’s paying out $750 to win, $125 to start. Saturday’s offering for the limited Sprint class will go to $1,000 to win. . Pure Stocks will fill out the weekend card of horsepower.
November 25 and 26 will see Pit Gates opening at 1:00 P.M. with General Admission opening at 4:00 P.M. Hot Laps will begin at 5:30 P.M. (MT). General Admission is $20 for adults on Friday and $25 for adults on Saturday. Fans can save money by getting both nights for only $40. All seating is general admission and Kids 11 and under are free into the grandstands all weekend. Pit Passes are $35 each night.
There is a $100 entry fee for the Carlyle Tools ASCS Southwest Region. Entries can be done by calling the Arizona Speedway at (480) 926-6688 or at the track. Arizona Speedway is located at 47800 N.
