CG Motorsports- November 10th, 2016 – When the dust settled on the 2016 Fall Fling at Creek County Speedway in Kellyville, Oklahoma, Matt Covington and the T&L Foundry/A-Rock Material/ Triple X finished in the 14th position on Friday, followed by 11th on Saturday. The team is headed for the Lucas Oil ASCS National season finale in Arizona this weekend to close out the year.
“We had one of those mismatched weekends”, stated Covington. “Last Friday night we had speed but was short on the luck part. We got the points in the heat and qualifier we needed to start up front in the feature. We were running second when the leader just lost it in front of us and got sideways. Unfortunately, I had nowhere to go. I stopped fast enough to just miss it, but then we got piled into by a few other cars and had to go to the work area. After minor repairs, we got back out and salvaged a 14th place finish. Saturday was just the opposite. We didn’t draw well or race well early and had to run the B. We won the B-main and managed to work our way to the 11th finishing spot from the back in the feature. All in all, it was just an average weekend. It was a shame that we didn’t do better, even though some of it was out of our control. Been doing this a few years now though and sometimes you just have to put it behind you, regroup, and go on to the next one. Tyler has been working very hard and I’m really proud of the direction the team is headed. We are going to Arizona this weekend and we will do our best to close out the season on a strong note and gain some momentum for next year.”
