The 2016 racing season was one of divided interests and focus for Michael Bookout and the racing team. It was the first season in which Bookout competed in both the OCRS and ASCS. School and work commitments for both driver and owner competed with racing time. Bookout averaged 18 OCRS events his first four seasons, while competing in 10 events this past season.
Yet in competing in just under 50% of the OCRS events, Bookout continued his upward climb in racing competitiveness, improving in the majority of metrics measured.
He finished with a "Top 10" A Feature finish 60% of the time, almost twice the percentage of his previous season.
Each and every season of competition, he increased his percentage of "Top 10" finishes in the A Features.
Bookout had as many heat race wins as his four previous seasons combined.
His nightly point average was 69 points, the most of his OCRS career. Not only was it the biggest increase in average points from the previous season, but it continued his trend of increasing his point average each and every season.
Bottom line: Bookout piloted the Finish Line Coatings, Ti22 Performance, Triple X Chassis, Car & Fleet, Mike Stewart Engines sprinter to a 13th place finish in season points, continuing a trend of season-to-season improvements. His last OCRS race of the season ended with a heat race win and an 8th place finish in the "A" Feature.
The Bookout Racing Team congratulates Robert Sellers on his championship season and thanks Ameriflex Hose and Accessories on its sponsorship of the series.
