Inside Line Promotions – MESQUITE, Texas (Oct. 19, 2016) – Travis Rilat extended his top-10 streak at Devil’s Bowl Speedway for another year.
Rilat has recorded at least one top 10 at the half-mile oval for the past 12 seasons thanks to an eighth-place finish last Friday to open the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour’s Winter Nationals.
The night began with Rilat advancing from fourth to third place in a heat race before he won a qualifier from the pole. That ranked him seventh out of nearly 50 competitors in overall points and lined him up on the inside of the fourth row for the main event.
Rilat maintained a top 10 throughout the race before posting an eighth-place result, which was his 14th top 10 this season.
“This was our last chance to keep that streak going,” he said. “I wish we would have been up there competing for the win, but it was good to come out with our team, which hadn’t raced in a few months, and earn a top 10 against the national guys.”
Rilat returned to Devil’s Bowl Speedway on Saturday for the finale. He finished where he started – second – in both a heat race and a qualifier to lock into the 14th starting position for the main event.
Unfortunately, Rilat rolled to a stop near the start of the race and was forced to restart at the back of the pack. He rebounded to rally into a 13th-place result.
“The track was rubber down from the drop of the green flag so it was tough to make much progress,” he said. “Passing was a struggle. The stats don’t look as good since we started 14th, but we had to work hard to come from the back.”
