World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series Weekly Update

SALINA, Okla. — October 10, 2016 — The O’Reilly Auto Parts Twister Showdown for the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series at Salina Highbanks Speedway in Salina, Okla., is less than two weeks away on Saturday, October 22. The Outlaws are in the midst of their final East Coast Swing of the season and competed in New York this past weekend.

Donny Schatz continued his stellar season on Saturday, October 8, picking up his series-leading 24th A-Feature win of the year at Fulton Speedway. Schatz started second, but fell back to third early in the race and was able to take both the second spot and then the lead on lap-8, getting by Lucas Wolfe and early leader Danny Dietrich. Schatz would stay out front for the remainder of the 30-lap race, with Wolfe coming home second and Dietrich third. Daryn Pittman crossed the line fourth to extend his streak top-10 finishes to 24 consecutive races, dating back to July 22. Shane Stewart rounded out the top-five.

Schatz extended his lead in the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series championship standings, as he gets closer to his eighth series title. Pittman remains in second, 13 points ahead of David Gravel, who in turn is seven markers in front of Brad Sweet. In the battle for fifth, Stewart holds a five-point advance over Joey Saldana. Jason Johnson, the 2016 winner of the Knoxville Nationals is seventh, followed by Logan Schuchart in eighth, Jason Sides in ninth and Paul McMahan in 10th.

The series heads to the famed Williams Grove Speedway in Pennsylvania this Friday for a single-night version of the National Open, which was postponed by rain on its originally scheduled weekend. On Saturday, the Outlaws head to Port Royal Speedway, also in Pennsylvania.

Discount General Admission tickets can also be purchased at participating O’Reilly Auto Parts stores. Each General Admission ticket purchased at an O’Reilly Auto Parts location will feature a special $5 discount. Tickets buyers will exchange their O’Reilly receipt for tickets at the Main Grandstand ticket booth on race day.
