Inside Line Promotions – ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. (Sept. 26, 2016) – Trey Starks will return to the Jeff McCall owned sprint car this weekend during the National Open.

The team will compete Thursday through Saturday at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa., where Starks is hoping to put together a strong weekend during the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series tripleheader.

“I think we need to find our groove back at Williams Grove this weekend,” he said. “We’ve run well there in the past and have had speed at a lot of places this year. I’m looking forward to the opportunity that Jeff is providing.

“We need to start out by qualifying good. Drawing will be important, too. It’s important to go out early in qualifying and I think there will be enough cars to do split qualifying so hopefully we’ll go out early in either group. Starting out the night right by qualifying well will be key. I think we’ll race all right.”

Starks is coming off a frustrating weekend in Central Pennsylvania, where he drove for Scott Gobrecht during a trio of races.

The action began on Thursday when Starks qualified 17th quickest before placing seventh in a heat race at Susquehanna Speedway Park in York Haven. He then won the B Main, but crashed in the main event.

“Unfortunately we had a front end part break, which put us straight into the wall,” he said. “That set the tone for the rest of the weekend. It seemed like whatever we tried, none of it worked. The car just did not want to respond to any changes. We tried about everything we could think of and nothing seemed to work.”

Starks returned to action last Friday at Williams Grove Speedway, where he timed in 21st quickest overall before ending seventh in both a heat race and the B Main.

The weekend concluded on Saturday at Lincoln Speedway, where Starks qualified 41st quickest during the Dirt Classic. He advanced from ninth to seventh place in two heat races before capping the night with a 13th-place result in the B Main.

“Last weekend didn’t go as we planned, but I want to thank Scott and the team for the opportunity,” he said. “Hopefully a little luck will be on my side in Pennsylvania this weekend.”
