Taylor Wraps Up Best Rookie Year in History of RMMRA

Inside Line Promotions – FORT MORGAN, Colo. (Sept. 21, 2016) – Zac Taylor became the highest finishing rookie in the history of the Rocky Mountain Midget Racing Association (RMMRA) thanks to another top-10 performance during the season finale last weekend.

The talented teen recorded a sixth-place finish at the season-ending event on Saturday at I-76 Speedway, earning him a second-place result in the series point standings.

“We didn’t get the wins I was hoping for, but to be the highest finishing rookie in the long history of the RMMRA is pretty awesome,” Taylor said. “We were so close to wins this year, but had some bad luck. All in all, it was a great learning experience.

“Todd (Henry, the car owner) was happy so I’m happy. We ran the entire season on one engine and the guys that finished first and third in points had motors that cost three times what ours did. We didn’t tear up a lot of equipment and I hope Todd gives me the chance to improve next season.”

Taylor, who finished second in a heat race before advancing from eighth to sixth place in the main event last Saturday, said he will take the next few weeks off and will be working to secure marketing partners to possibly race a midget and a non-wing sprint car in California. Cory Kruseman, who Taylor drove for at the 2016 Chili Bowl Nationals this past January, has invited him to the West Coast.

“Depending on if I can get some sponsorship help, Cory wants me to race with the USAC Western States Midgets and possibly a non-wing 410 and 360 sprint car,” Taylor said. “When I went to school with Cory I ran some non-wing 360 stuff, but only about 40 laps. It would be a fantastic experience.”
