Inside Line Promotions – OHSWEKEN, Ontario, Canada (Sept. 20, 2016) – Joe Trenca has a tripleheader on tap this weekend in his home state.
Trenca and the Mucci Motorsports team will compete on Friday at Outlaw Speedway in Dundee, N.Y.; on Saturday at Fonda Speedway in Fonda, N.Y.; and on Sunday at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park in Elbridge, N.Y.
“It’s a big weekend,” he said. “I haven’t been to Outlaw Speedway this year. I know they made a lot of changes to the facility. The last time we were there we charged forward pretty good. I haven’t run at Fonda Speedway in a year or year and a half. And Rolling Wheels Raceway Park is close to home. It’s probably the fastest track around here. I feel like the package we’ve been doing will work there. Plus, everyone is excited to bounce back from the Canadian Sprint Car Nationals.”
Last weekend was a long one for the team as it ventured to Ohsweken Speedway for the Canadian Sprint Car Nationals. Trenca elected to only compete in the finale of the event, which was postponed a day to Sunday because of the weather.
“It was a long weekend,” he said. “We put ourselves behind in time trials for the heat races. We misjudged the track. It changed really quick and we didn’t get a good time.”
Trenca timed in ninth quickest in his group. He advanced from ninth to sixth place in a heat race, which relegated him to a B Main. Trenca then placed fourth in the consolation race to miss transferring to the main event by only two positions.
“We just weren’t good enough,” he said. “There were 66 or 67 cars there and it was a really tough deal. Hopefully we can bounce back this weekend with three good runs.”
