Inside Line Promotions – BYERS, Colo. (Sept. 20, 2016) – Zach Blurton is having the best season of his young career as he earned his fifth win of 2016 last Saturday at Colorado Motorsports Park.

Blurton, who won his heat race and started the main event sixth, took the lead on Lap 12 of the United Rebel Sprint Series (URSS) sanctioned event and he never looked back.

“My dad wasn’t able to go with us so it was me, my future father-in-law and another guy,” he said. “But we have the setup pretty dialed in for that track. The only difference is usually the top side is my preferred line, but this week it was the bottom.

“I just worked my way to the front and drove around the leader and was on cruise control from there.”

Blurton has four races remaining for 2016 and hopes to more than double his best year for wins.

“The most wins I’ve had in a season is three,” he said. “Hopefully I can get a couple more before the year’s out.”

Blurton is also working to secure a championship or two. He currently leads the URSS Colorado Region points and is second in the Kansas Region standings. Blurton is also eighth in the International Motor Contest Association (IMCA) National points and he leads the series Rookie of the Year standings.

Blurton’s schedule for this weekend is Friday at U.S. 30 Speedway in Columbus, Neb., with the Sprint Series of Nebraska (SSN) and Saturday at Dodge City Raceway Park in Dodge City, Kan., with the URSS for the Fourth Annual Jerry Soderberg Memorial Championship.
