It has been a long winter for Josh Holt, pilot of the Driver Websites Sprint Source.com 410 winged sprint car, but the spring is finally here and Holt is ready for the upcoming season to begin. Holt, a regular 360 driver out of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, purchased a 410 Gaerte from Bret Mellenberndt Racing this past year to begin his 410 racing career.
Holt, co-owner of Driver Websites, has been very busy with the business. He and his two partners Ross and Zach, have been traveling the country, promoting the business and developing websites. 2009 marked a standout year for the two-year old website development company as they produced 100 websites to racers and businesses across the nation, including one in Australia and one for a company based out of Denmark.
“We have been very fortunate,” explains Holt. “The three of us work 60-70 hours a week every week producing websites and print material for racers and businesses across the country, so its hard to really hit the racing as hard as I used to. But, I enjoy every minute of what I do and it does allow for some time behind the wheel.”
Josh will be racing as much as he can throughout this 2010 season including about a dozen World of Outlaw events including a trip out west to the Gold Cup in Chico, CA.
His first showing of the year was this past weekend at I-90 Speedway in Hartford, SD as they had a test ‘n tune night for the racers to make sure their machines were ready to rock for the upcoming season.
“I am very pleased with how our laps went at the practice,” explains Holt. “My goal that day was simply to reconnect my head with my shoulders and make sure the motor ran. We raced last year at Huset’s and I didn’t have my act together. I wasn’t right behind the wheel and I had the fuel system in the motor all messed up. But, practice night at Hartford was a success. We were very fast and smooth right out of the box and it just made me more than ready for the season to begin. The first race of the year never does me that well, so hopefully that practice night was what I needed to get the season started in the right direction!”
Holt’s first race will be in Rock Rapids, Iowa, as HRA representative Bill Mellenberndt will be holding a 5 race series with his track and Lyle Howie’s I-90 Speedway.
“I have been pretty quick at Rocky (Rock Rapids Speedway) in years past,” says Josh, “It is a very forgiving race track and a fun place to drive, so I am really looking forward to it. We cut our teeth at I-90 back in 1999, so I am pretty familiar with that place. This entire 5 race series should be a blast!”
