Inside Line Promotions – PORT ROYAL, Pa. (Sept. 7, 2016) – It was a great weekend of learning for Ryan Smith and the Warko Group team that ended with another solid top-five result.

The weekend began on Friday at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa., for the Gary Beam Tribute race. Smith qualified eighth quickest and placed third in a heat race to start the main event on the inside of the fourth row.

“We qualified well and ran a great heat,” he said. “We tried some stuff on the car and didn’t tighten it up enough and fell back to 13th. But it was a great learning experience.”

Smith returned to Williams Grove Speedway on Sunday for the Billy Kimmel Memorial event.

“We drove from fourth to second in our heat,” he said. “We had a great top-five car. I got up to third and fell back in lapped traffic to fourth and with three laps to go the guy ahead of me was trying to get by a lapped car and spun and made contact with me. We didn’t damage too much stuff and I felt good because it was the best we’ve been at Williams Grove in a while.”

Smith was credited with a 13th-place result for the second straight race.

The holiday weekend wrapped up on Monday when Smith and the Warko Group team ventured to Port Royal Speedway. Again Smith found speed early as he won his heat race.

“We started third in the feature and the car was a tick too tight and we lost one spot and finished fourth,” he said. “We learned about how this car reacts to dirty air and how it changes as the fuel load burns off.

“It was a good weekend. We learned a lot and can’t wait for this coming weekend with the All Stars at Port Royal. We found some things and I’m excited.”

Smith will return to Port Royal Speedway this Friday and Saturday for the Tuscarora 50 with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions.
