Taylor Scores Top 10s During Midget Doubleheader in Kansas

Inside Line Promotions – GARDEN CITY, Kan. (Sept. 6, 2016) – Zac Taylor spent last weekend competing against some of the region’s best midget drivers.

Taylor, who is in his rookie year driving a midget in the Rocky Mountain Midget Racing Association, recorded a top-five finish and two top 10s at Airport Raceway in an event that was co-sanctioned with the POWRi West Midget Series.

The action began on Friday with Taylor winning his heat race. That lined him up on the outside of the front row for the main event.

“Friday was just crazy,” he said. “I made contact with another car and wheel hopped him bad and stopped. I had some fans on the outside of the track look over the car and they said it looked good to go so I went to the tail, about 20th, and came back to finish 10th.”

On Saturday, Taylor said the track took rubber, which made it hard to pass. He again won a heat race and this time started the main event on the outside of the third row.

“At the start I lost a spot, but was able to get it back,” he said. “It was nearly impossible to pass, but we had a great car all weekend and we beat a lot of very good drivers.”

Taylor finished fifth, which was his 15th top five of the season.

He is excited to race a week from Wednesday with the RMMRA as the support division to the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series event at El Paso County Raceway in Calhan, Colo.

“It’s going to be a big event Wednesday,” he said. “The stands will be packed and I really want to show how good this team is. I’ll go to school Wednesday and drive six hours to the track and then race and drive six hours home so I don’t miss any school.”

But first he will race the family’s 305ci sprint car this Saturday at El Paso County Raceway. He was victorious at the track last month.
