Inside Line Promotions – JACKSON, Minn. (Sept. 6, 2016) – Mark Burch Motorsports was a contender both nights last weekend during the 38th annual AGCO Jackson Nationals.
Danny Lasoski piloted the team to a third-place result on Friday during the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour preliminary action and he was racing for a top five on Sunday in the finale before a broken part left the team with its first DNF of the season.
“Mark works so hard to give me a great car and he did both nights,” Lasoski said. “We passed a lot of cars.”
Racing began on Friday with Lasoski advancing from third to second place in a heat race. That put Mark Burch Motorsports 12th in overall points out of the 39 competitors and earned the 12th starting position for the 25-lap main event.
“Once we got going we were rolling really well,” Lasoski said. “It was a fun race. Hats off to Jackson Motorplex for putting a surface down where we could run all over. At one time it was three wide for the lead.”
Lasoski charged from 12th to post a third-place result, which locked the team into Sunday’s redraw for the $10,000-to-win main event. The team pulled the No. 3 to start the 25-lap feature on the inside of the second row.
“From about Lap 3 on I couldn’t steer the car straight,” he said. “We did our best to hold onto where we were, but with a couple of laps remaining the shock got in between the axle and tie rod and I couldn’t steer it. I almost wadded it up in turn four.”
Lasoski was battling for a top five when the problem forced him to the pits early. He was credited with a 19th-place result.
Mark Burch Motorsports and Lasoski are slated to head to Billings Motorsports Park in Billings, Mont., this Friday and Saturday for the Dan Laber Memorial with the NSA Shootout. The finale pays $7,500 to win.
“Both Mark and I are excited to head to Montana for a weekend,” Lasoski said. “I haven’t been there in a quite a while, but I enjoy that part of the country. We’re still looking for our first win together this season and this weekend would be a great time to do it with a good purse on the line.”
