Inside Line Promotions – SPRING RUN, Pa. (Aug. 31, 2016) – Ryan Smith is getting closer to driving into Victory Lane.
Smith opened last weekend by placing 19th on Friday at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa., before he scored a top-five result on Sunday at Path Valley Speedway Park.
“We didn’t get a good pill draw Friday at Williams Grove and were racing midpack and I decided to pull in,” he said. “On Sunday we missed the feature inversion by one and then we started fifth and finished fifth. The track conditions made it hard to pass. But it was another solid top-five finish."
Smith kicked off the night by qualifying third quickest before placing third in a heat race. He spent the feature battling inside the top five before posting a fifth-place result, which was his 12th top five of the season.
Smith plans to run Williams Grove Speedway this Friday for the Gary Beam Tribute Race and Sunday for the Billy Kimmel Memorial.
“Friday they will use qualifying to line up the heats and Sunday is pill draw,” he said. “Hopefully we have all the bad pill draws out of the way and can catch a little luck. We might go to Port Royal Speedway on Saturday. We’ll see how Friday goes first.”
