Inside Line Promotions – NEW EGYPT, N.J. (Aug. 25, 2016) – The past week has been a busy one for Ryan Smith, who competed in four events, including three with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions.

In more than half of the races the “Kunkletown Kid” has competed in during 2016, he has finished in the top 10. Considering the competition he battles every week in the tough Central Pennsylvania racing scene, that is a remarkable achievement.

“It’s been a night and day difference the past couple of years,” he said. “We have found consistent speed and get faster every week. The wins haven’t been there this year, but the consistency has.

“You take out the Yuma shows at beginning of the year and we have 25 top-10 finishes out of 45 shows. That’s where we want to be. The wins will come.”

Last week’s All Star action began on Thursday at Grandview Speedway in Bechtelsville, Pa., where Smith said the track was “too fast early.”

He qualified 11th quickest, won a heat race and placed fifth in the dash. Smith then battled for a podium throughout the main event before closing with a fourth-place result.

“We got going better when the track slicked off,” he said.

Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa., hosted an All Star event on Friday. Unfortunately, brake issues prevented Smith from recording the finish he desired.

“I was running second in the heat and you needed to finish in the top two for a chance at the dash and a good feature starting spot, and about halfway through I lost my brakes and ended up third and that put us back in the feature,” he said. “I just pulled in to save the motor.”

Smith travelled to Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, Pa., on Saturday and got that second-place run in the heat race, which gave him the ninth starting position in the feature.

“We held our own,” he said after ending seventh. “It was a good weekend.”

This week opened with an event on Tuesday at New Egypt Speedway.

“The ending was good, but we weren’t that good all night,” he said. “This car is a little different from the old car and it took us awhile to get it better, but we are figuring out what it needs.”

Smith timed in seventh quickest and ended fifth in a heat before closing the event with a third-place finish in the feature.

Smith plans to compete this Friday at Williams Grove Speedway and possibly at Path Valley Speedway in Spring Run, Pa., on Sunday.

“We have to find a truck to get us to the Party at the Path on Sunday,” he said.
