Bryant Reflects on Bryan Clauson as He Prepares to Get Back to Racing

Inside Line Promotions – THE WOODLANDS, Texas (Aug. 16, 2016) – As Tommy Bryant gets back to racing this weekend the tragic death of racer Bryan Clauson is weighing heavily on his mind.

“I raced quarter midgets with Bryan when we were kids,” he said. “Then he went to Indiana to do his thing and I went to Texas. We hadn’t seen each other for over 15 years and we were at the Chili Bowl and he saw me and came up and started a conversation. Then last year he came and raced with us once and this year we got to race with him during our speedweek. I will miss him.

“It’s amazing to see the outpouring on social media. I haven’t said anything until now because I just couldn’t wrap my head around all of it. My heart goes out to Tim and Di, Taylor and Lauren. They all can be proud of Bryan’s legacy not only as a racer but as a man. He did more in 22 years of racing than most of us will do in a lifetime. Seeing the reactions of so many people who didn’t even know Bryan … it makes me work harder to be a better husband, father, racer and man.”

Bryant knows “BC” would want him to race and to do so with more determination. The SawBlade.com sponsored Cooper Motorsports team is slated to get back to action this Friday at Heart O’ Texas Speedway in Waco, Texas, and Saturday at Lone Star Speedway in Kilgore, Texas, with the ASCS Gulf South Region.

“We haven’t raced since July 23,” Bryant said. “We have all the maintenance on the car done including getting all the spares ready. We are more than eager to get to the track this weekend if the weather holds out. We really need to race … we have a lot of points to make up on Channin (Tankersley) and it’s going to take wins over these last four races.”

Bryant is currently ranked second in the ASCS Gulf South Region championship standings.
