Inside Line Promotions – CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (Aug. 10, 2016) – Joe Trenca recorded his sixth top 10 of the season last Saturday at Canandaigua Motorsports Park.
Trenca kicked off the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints event by winning a heat race after he started on the inside of the second row. That earned him a spot in the feature redraw.
“We were the first person to draw and we drew a nine,” he said. “Starting position is a big thing. Once everyone gets spread out they stay the same speed.”
The Mucci Motorsports driver lined up on the inside of the fifth row for the main event.
“We were up to sixth or seventh at one point,” he said. “In lapped traffic I got passed and then with two laps to go a guy got into me and I got checked up.”
Trenca finished with an eighth-place result, which was his best finish of the season in three starts at the track.
“We won a heat race and got a top 10 so I was happy with it,” he said. “We had a couple of weeks off and had some bad luck with a motor problem and a flip before that. One of our good sponsors was the sponsor of the night. We had 30 of our family members there. It was a fun night close to home.”
Trenca is undecided on whether he will compete this weekend.
