NORTH JACKSON, Ohio (August 7, 2016) - Jack Sodeman, Jr. cashed in for a big payday on Saturday night, August 6, at the Mercer Raceway Park in Mercer, Pennsylvania, capturing the 3rd Annual Putzy Kekich Memorial worth $3,000. For Sodeman, the victory was his fourth of the 2016 season at Mercer Raceway Park, raising his overall season total to seven, already three ahead of 2015. The North Jackson, Ohio, native captured the victory from the outside of the front row, earning his starting position after finishing second in the evening’s dash.

“The guys had the car where it needed to be all night. I can’t thank them enough for their hard work and endless effort,” Sodeman explained. “Winning this race is a pretty big honor. Putzy was a great racer and an awesome competitor. We’ve been working to earn this win for a long time, so I’m glad to add my name to the list. Hopefully we can honor him again in the future and win another one.”

Sodeman, Jr., pilot of the Glassmere Fuel, Economy Tooling, PRS Transit, Townsend Gas & Oil, Inc., Butlerbuilt, Keizer Aluminum Wheels, Simpson Race Products, Triple X Race Components, No. 23JR, kicked off his recent weekend with a sixth place finish at the Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pennsylvania, on Friday night, August 5. The pair of top-ten finishes was enough to keep Sodeman on top of the standings at both Western Pennsylvania facilities, officially chasing a Western Pennsylvania sweep in 2016 at Lernerville Speedway and Mercer Raceway Park.

Up next on the schedule, Jack Sodeman, Jr. will return to Lernerville Speedway on Friday night, August 12, for another round of Fab-Four weekly competition, followed by an appearance at the Sharon Speedway in Hartford, Ohio, on Saturday, August 13. Sodeman is a former track champion at Sharon Speedway, earning back-to-back titles in 2009 and 2010. A win on Saturday evening would give Sodeman his first victory of the 2016 season outside of Pennsylvania.

“We always look forward to getting back to Sharon Speedway,” Sodeman explained. “We had a lot of success there when we raced weekly. Things are really starting to click right now and I’m confident that we’ll have a car to beat there on Saturday. I just want to thank my family, crew, and sponsors one more time for all of their help and support. It takes a lot of work and a lot of effort to keep a car on the track. I certainly wouldn’t be here without all of their help.”
