Inside Line Promotions – BILLINGS, Mont. (Aug. 3, 2016) – Sammy Swindell will be part of the final weekend of the NSA Shootout, which will be hosted by Billings Motorsports Park on Sept. 9-10.

Swindell, a Hall of Fame driver who ranks second in career World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series feature victories, is teaming up with former World of Outlaws racer Tim Gee during the marquee event that pays $2,000 to win the opening night and $7,500 to win the finale.

“I know I’ve been up there two or three times,” Swindell said. “It seems like I remember winning up there, but it’s been a while.

“It’s an opportunity for another challenge and racing for some people that I’ve been around quite a bit quite a few years ago. It’s an opportunity to get to do some things outside of racing as well. We’ll spend a little time in that part of the country.”

Swindell has won almost every mega event in sprint car racing and he is looking to add an NSA Shootout triumph to that list.

“I think that’s great, especially for the 360s and that part of the country to have a big race like that,” he said. “I know there’s some other things we’ll be doing in the community that week. Some of the things you don’t get to do when you’re running a series because you’re so busy all the time. It’s kind of like what we used to do 20 years ago. A promoter would put on a big race and we’d show up and be there three, four, five days ahead and do some things around town. I commend (Billings Motorsports Park Owner) Mike Quigley for doing that and making this an event instead of just a race.”

Gee will field two cars during the event with one for his son, Skylar, who is an up-and-coming racer.

“I know he’ll do a good job,” Swindell said. “That’s a big part of it is giving back to some people in racing. This way I can help them along with their racing and their careers. It’s a winning situation for everyone.”

Swindell is the second Hall of Fame driver scheduled to tackle the event. It was announced earlier this week Danny Lasoski, who just won his record 11th track championship at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, and who is in a tight battle for his second straight National Sprint League championship, will also take part in the NSA Shootout.
