Inside Line Promotions – THE WOODLANDS, Texas (Aug. 2, 2016) – It’s been a very consistent season for Tommy Bryant and the SawBlade.com sponsored Cooper Motorsports team with many top-five and top-10 finishes. However, the one statistic that’s eating at Bryant is 0 wins.
“We’ve been so close,” he said. “The Cooper’s have given me great equipment all season and Brad Benic has really been on his game with the setups. If we could get Lady Luck on our side for the pill draws and redraws … you just can’t give guys like Channin (Tankersley) any type of advantage. Hats off to Channin. He’s having an unbelievable season.
“We need to put an entire night together. We had a motor failure early in the year and that cost us valuable points (in the ASCS Gulf South Region standings). That was a big hit. Other than that we’ve been right there. My focus the last five races of the year is to get more aggressive and win. If we win races the championships take care of themselves. I know we have the car and the crew to get it done.”
A couple of weeks ago Bryant gave a hint as to how close he is to breaking into the win column. A pair of podium finishes with the ASCS Gulf South Region has him eager to get back to racing.
“We’ve got the back-up motor in and the other is headed to get freshened,” he said. “All the maintenance is done on the car and we’ll hang out with our families these next couple of weeks, rest and recharge and get focused on getting wins.”
Bryant is currently ranked second in the ASCS Gulf South Region points with the next races set for Aug. 19 at Heart O’ Texas Speedway in Waco, Texas, and Aug. 20 at Lone Star Speedway in Kilgore, Texas.
