Paul McMahan 17th at ‘The Grove’ Before Mechanical Issues Saturday Night

PETERSEN MEDIA: Heading East and into Canada with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series, Paul McMahan would record a 17th place finish on Friday night at the Williams Grove Speedway before mechanical issues hindered him on Saturday night.

“We have made some changes within our team and they are going take a little time to get adjusted to, and one of our guys has been back home with his family for a few days so we are excited to get a full squad back this weekend,” Paul McMahan said.

Heading to the Williams Grove Speedway for the Summer Nationals, McMahan would get things started by timing the MonDak Portables/Ft. Union Supply and Trading/Rick Rogers Construction No. 7 entry in 11th fastest in his qualifying group.

Starting and finishing sixth in his heat race, the Nashville, TN driver would be forced into the night’s Last Chance Showdown where he would pick up the win and move into the feature event.

Lining up in the 21st starting position, McMahan would show some speed in the feature event as he was able to move forward amongst a very stout field of cars. Thought it wasn’t as far forward as he had hoped, McMahan would pocket a 17th place finish.

The Summer Nationals finale saw McMahan time the Maxim Chassis/FK Rod Ends/Walker Performance Filtration backed entry in ninth fastest. Lining up in the third row of his heat race, a fifth place finish would transfer the Destiny Motorsports entry directly into the 30-lap feature event.

Gridding the field from the ninth row, McMahan would again look to work his way forward on this night, but unfortunately just past the race’s halfway point mechanical issues would arise and McMahan would pull his machine back to the trailer.

A busy week of racing would come to a close on Tuesday night as McMahan and company made the trip to the Ohsweken Speedway in Ohsweken, ONT Canada.

McMahan would kick his night in Canada off by timing in 13th fastest in qualifying time trials. Finishing fifth in his heat, the California native gridded the field from the 13th starting position for the Six Nations Showdown ‘A’ Main.

When the feature event went green McMahan would find himself battling a tight racecar as he tried to work his way forward. Searching around for a line that would allow him to move forward, McMahan would slowly fall back to finish in the 18th spot.

“Overall we were much better at Williams Grove then the last time we were there, and in Canada, we just tightened up too much and it made it tough to work forward,” McMahan said. “Even shorthanded, my guys worked hard for me, and hopefully this weekend with a full staff we can be a little better.”

Destiny Motorsports would like to thank MonDak Portables, Ft. Union Supply and Trading, Rick Rogers Construction, Maxim Chassis, Boss Signs and Graphics, Driver Websites, Petersen Media, FK Rod Ends, Walker Performance Filtration, KSE Racing Products, ButlerBuilt, Simpson Race Products, Parker Engines, Keizer Wheels, DMI, Red Devil Brakes, Champion Oil, All Pro Cylinder Heads, Astro Titanium, and Hoosier Tire for their continued support.
