Dover Dominates Weekend With Wins at I-80, Crawford County and Eagle

Inside Line Promotions – EAGLE, Neb. (July 27, 2016) – To say Jack Dover is on a roll is an understatement.

Dover swept last weekend by winning all three races, including a pair of Carpetland Nebraska 360 Sprints events. He has now reached Victory Lane during four consecutive races with the series to hold a 70-point lead in the championship standings.

“It’s pretty exciting,” he said. “I’ve been working so hard that I haven’t had the time to focus on the race car. To go out and win three times shows how good the stuff is and how everything is gelling well.”

The competition began last Thursday at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb., where Dover won a Carpetland Nebraska 360 Sprints heat race from the pole to advance into the feature redraw.

“I have to give a huge shout out to my girlfriend because she’s the one who draws,” he said. “Whenever you can draw well it makes the night easier.”

Dover was awarded the No. 2 during the random draw to start the main event on the outside of the front row.

“We got the lead right away,” he said. “The last four laps (Brian) Brown was right behind me. I knew I had to hit my lines. The last two laps I started missing them. He showed his nose on the last corner. I almost gave the win away.”

Dover hung on for the victory and he carried that momentum into another Carpetland Nebraska 360 Sprints show on Friday at Crawford County Speedway in Denison, Iowa. Dover maneuvered from fourth to third place in a heat race to make the feature redraw.

“My girlfriend pulled the No. 2 again,” he said. “The polesitter and I battled for the lead the first lap and then I led the rest of the way. It was right around the top for the first five laps and then I figured the track would take rubber so I moved down a little bit. I happened to find the rubber right in the middle of the corners halfway up the track. I had that feeling I had to search around or else the guys behind me would find it first. I took the chance to search and I found it.”

Dover led the distance to record the triumph.

He decided to wrap up the weekend on Saturday at Eagle Raceway, where Dover drove a 305ci winged sprint car for Chris Roseland.

“We’ve got the motor running good now and that car has always worked good,” he said. “All we did was roll the car out from last time we won and put it in the shop. We decided that day to go racing. We checked the motor real quick and rolled it into the trailer.”

Dover powered from fifth to second place in a heat race before he charged from fifth to win the main event.

“We got up to third on the first lap and on the second or third lap we ended up with the lead and led it from there,” he said. “We ran the bottom in turns one and two. I felt like I was slowing up way too much. I had to go up top and try it. Jason Martin got close to me on the last couple of laps. He showed me his nose with three laps to go. Once he showed me the nose I went down to the bottom and took his line away.”

The win was Dover’s eighth of the season.

He will return to action with races this Thursday at Park Jefferson International Speedway in Jefferson, S.D., with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour; Saturday at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa; and Sunday at Beatrice Speedway in Beatrice, Neb.
