Extreme Cup July 22, 2016 - Castrol Raceway
We started the night pulling a 8 place pill for qualifying which was great out of 25 cars. Wayne went out to qualify and on the first lap the left side wing panel tore off and a yellow flag was shown due to the car before us did not pull off and went an extra lap so we did not get a full lap in. Wayne pulled the car off with the wing panel off as he almost rolled the car going into the corner without the aero part of the wing to keep the car stable. Put on a new top wing and this put us as the last car to qualify with only one lap due to no time in on the first attempt. Wayne qualified 18th with not the best set up. So not off to a good start. In heat 3 Wayne finished 5th which advanced us to the A Main and starting 17th of 20 cars. The track was super dry and dusty. we had allot of cautions due to a few crashes. Wayne worked his way up to 11th place and then spun trying to do a slide job on 2 cars and caused a caution. this put Wayne at the back at 14th. Wayne worked his way back up to 11th and finished 11th race was long due to dust and cautions was 41 mins long. Hoping night 2 will be better set ups for qualifying and heat race.
Extreme Cup July 23, 2016 - Castrol Raceway
After night 1 we were 12th in points of 25 cars. Wayne pulled a 10th place pill for qualifying. Once again we missed on the set up of the qualifying and placed 16th in qualifying. Wayne finished 6th in the heat race will a poor set up and could not drive hard in the corners as would of spun out. We were lucky enough to make the A Main based on points and started 12th for the A Main. The race started clean and all drivers drove great to avoid yellow flags. The race went 23 laps green flag racing and Wayne had to drive hard to keep 12th and going through lap traffic. A caution came out on lap 23 for a stalled car. The race is 25 laps so went green/white/checkered flag restart. Wayne finished 12th. the top 12 cars was on the lead lap so we had a good night even though we finished 12th the car set up was great. My team gave me a good set up for the A Main. Going 23 green flag laps it was hard to catch the lead cars as they were all running very good. Our lap times were consistent with the cars ahead of us. The Main race was probably one of the best Extreme Cup races held at Castrol Raceway. Wayne had fun running 23 green flag laps and the race was complete in 13 minutes. Congrats to Chevy Goodhope on his first Extreme Cup win and drove his heart out.
Our next race on our Schedule is Drayton Valley Speedway on Aug 6th. Wayne is 2nd in points at Drayton valley and hope to defend 2nd place.
