This past Saturday, July 16th, at the running of the second annual Roy Cooley Memorial Classic, the Aman Motorsports debut night didn't go as planned. The night started off great, though the track conditions were less than ideal. Charles went out for hot laps and turned some great first laps in the new car to get it shaken down. Feeling good about the night and the new Stallard SST, the team made a few adjustments to the fuel system, and got ready for the first of two heat races. Charles drew the #13 pill, which put him second row inside for heat one, and second row outside for heat two. At the drop of the green flag in heat one, we could tell something wasn't right. After about 4 laps, Charles pulled into the infield and shut the car down. After getting back to the trailer, we found out something inside the engine was broken, and we were finished for the night.
Once we got back, the team took the engine out of the car and did a little inspecting, and found out the engine spun a rod bearing, hurting the crankshaft along with it. Nothing can stop this team, as a new engine is already en-route to the shop, and we will be back out to the track in a couple weeks! Be sure to keep an eye on our schedule, and we will see you at the races!
A special thanks to Jeff Cooley and Jeff Cooley Photos for such an amazing job he does week in and week out with his racing photos. Be sure to check him out on Facebook!
