POWRi Micros and D II Midgets Head to Champaign Fairgrounds, National Midgets Take Weekend Off

Belleville, IL – On Friday, July 22nd, the POWRi Lucas Oil ILLINI Division II Midget Series and the POWRi Speedway Motors 600cc Outlaw Micro Series will head to the Champaign County Fairgrounds in Urbana, Illinois. The POWRi Lucas Oil ILLINI Division II Midget Series feature will be paying $500 to win and $100 to start. Kicking off the opening night of the Champaign County Fair, both divisions look to deliver plenty of action, as this will be the first time open wheel racing has taken to the Champaign County Fairgrounds in decades. Newly constructed in 2015, the quarter mile track only hosts events during fair week.

In the POWRi Lucas Oil ILLINI Division II Midget Series title hunt, Patrick Bruns holds the top position with nine victories in 2016, his latest coming on Saturday night at Lincoln Speedway. Tyler Vantoll holds the second position with Adam Taylor in third. Mitchell Davis and Hunter Lane round out the top five.

For the POWRi Speedway Motors 600cc Outlaw Micro Series, Nathan Benson has a stranglehold on the championship with an almost 500 point lead over second place Shelby Bosie. Jeremy Camp is in third over Friday night’s winner at Belle-Clair Speedway, Joe B. Miller. Alec Long is in fifth.
