Red Bull Global Rallycross Star Steve Arpin Returning to Dirt Roots Saturday at Billings Motorsports Park

Inside Line Promotions – BILLINGS, Mont. (July 13, 2016) – One of racing’s most versed drivers is heading to Billings Motorsports Park on Saturday.

Steve Arpin, who is a driver for Loenbro Chip Ganassi Racing on the Red Bull Global Rallycross Series, will drive for Chris Dunn during the late model portion of the NSA Shootout.

“I think the last time I was in a late model was 10 years ago so this is going to be interesting,” Arpin said. “It’s going to be fun. We have a really busy schedule these days. I treasure the moments I get to get back on the dirt track. Realistically it’s a good car. He’s put a couple other people in it and they’ve done really well. I want to be up there challenging for the win.”

Arpin, a 32-year-old who grew up in Northwest Ontario, Canada, and now resides in Charlotte, N.C., began racing on dirt at an early age competing in snowmobiles in the winter and go-karts in the summer.

“I raced anything I could get my hands on in dirt cars,” he said. “I had the opportunity to switch to asphalt racing.”

Arpin spent several years chasing NASCAR races and has also competed in USAC Silver Crown, ARCA Racing Series, NASCAR XFINITY Series and the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series to name a few. Now he is a full-time rallycross competitor, which has taken him across the world to race.

“Brazil, Germany, Spain, Barbados; we’ve raced all over the world,” he said.

Arpin is in his fourth year with the Red Bull Global Rallycross series, which includes notable drivers such as Loenbro Chip Ganassi Racing teammate Brian Deegan, Tanner Foust and Scott Speed.

Those drivers have competed in Phoenix, Dallas and Daytona, Fla., already this season with the next event slated for late July in Washington D.C. In the meantime, Arpin gets to return to his roots on Saturday at Billings Motorsports Park.

“This will be my first time over at Billings and I’m really looking forward to it,” he said. “I’m excited to be a part of it. It’s huge for me. When Chris and I were able to put this together I was literally like a kid in the candy store when I told my wife about it.”

In addition to Arpin and the late models competing on Saturday, the NSA Shootout is featuring 360ci sprint cars on Friday for a $2,000-to-win race and Saturday for the $7,500-to-win, $500-to-start finale.

This weekend’s events at Billings Motorsports Park also include midwest modifieds and street stocks both nights.

Online tickets are on sale for the two-day spectacle at http://www.BMPSpeedway.com until Friday afternoon. Adult tickets are $20 for Friday ($16 pre-buy) and $25 for Saturday ($21 pre-buy) and $10 each night ($7 per night pre-buy) for children ages 7 to 11. Children ages 6 and younger get in free.
