Inside Line Promotions – ERIE, Pa. (July 6, 2016) – Joe Trenca is taking this weekend off from racing after a grueling five straight nights of competition last week.

“It was a tough week,” he said. “We did a lot of traveling compared to what we normally do. It wasn’t as good of a week as I was hoping for. We had some tough luck with losing a motor and wrecking the final night, but we definitely learned some stuff we can apply to the future.”

The competition for the Mucci Motorsports team began a week ago Wednesday at Brewerton Speedway in Brewerton, N.Y., with the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints. Trenca placed sixth in a heat race before he won the B Main to transfer into the back of the main event. He then picked up a trio of positions to finish 18th.

“It was real slow paced,” he said. “The track was really slick. I don’t think we were going 70 miles per hour it was so slow. It was a tough track to move forward on.”

The action shifted to Canandaigua Motorsports Park in Canandaigua, N.Y., on Thursday. Trenca ended fifth in a heat race and fourth in the dash before he maneuvered from 16th to 12th in the Empire Super Sprints feature.

“We weren’t really good early in the race,” he said. “The last 10 or 11 laps we started coming on and passing cars. We had a late restart and got a bunch. We just ran out of laps to get a top 10.”

Little Valley Speedway in Little Valley, N.Y., hosted a Patriot Sprint Tour event on Friday. Trenca charged from fourth place to win a heat race, which lined him up on the outside of the second row for the main event.

“We were running in fourth and we had a motor let go on us around Lap 5,” he said. “We were really good. We were definitely expecting a podium finish at the minimum.”

The Mucci Motorsports team ventured to Mercer Raceway Park in Mercer, Pa., last Saturday, when Trenca placed third in a heat race to make the feature redraw. He pulled the No. 4 to start the Patriot Sprint Tour main event on the outside of Row 2.

“We were decent all night,” he said. “I made some mistakes on a track that was really fast. It was a get up on the wheel, elbows-up track. We were right there. All six of us were right there always battling. It was a good race. We were happy with a sixth-place finish.”

Trenca’s sixth-place result was his best finish during the week and it marked his fourth top 10 this season.

The busy week concluded on Sunday at Eriez Speedway, where Trenca was caught up in a wild crash during a heat race at the Patriot Sprint Tour event.

“We were running second and I made a driver error,” he said. “I got over the curb and pounded the wall and we flipped down the frontstretch.”

Mucci Motorsports and Trenca will return to action July 15 at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa., and July 16 at Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal, Pa.
