Inside Line Promotions – MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (July 3, 2016) – Trey Starks had a roller-coaster experience during a trio of Pennsylvania Speedweek races.

Starks kicked off the action last Wednesday when he made his debut at Hagerstown Speedway in Hagerstown, Md., by qualifying sixth quickest despite having the right side wing panel collapse on the top wing during qualifying. Unfortunately, that was just the start of the bad luck for the Jeff McCall team.

A flat tire kept Starks from transferring through a heat race, which forced the team to run the B Main. Starks won the consolation race to transfer into the 11th starting position in the main event.

“We were running in the top 10 when a car spun in front of us,” he said. “I was running the top and had nowhere to go. It collapsed the header on the right side so we couldn’t continue.”

Starks was credited with a 22nd-place finish.

Scott Gobrecht fielded a sprint car for Starks the next two nights starting on Thursday at Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal, Pa. The team timed in 18th quickest during qualifying before placing sixth in a heat race to lock into the 16th starting position for the main event.

“We were really good,” he said. “We made it into the top 10. I was trying to pass a car and ended up getting in the wall. I had to go to the back and we got back up to 15th.”

Starks rebounded from the miscue to place 15th.

The trip east closed on Friday at Williams Grove Speedway, where Starks qualified 22nd before placing seventh in a heat race and fourth in the B Main. He then maneuvered from last – 24th – to an 18th-place result in the main event.

“The race went green to checkered and the track took rubber so we made the best of it,” he said. "A big thanks to Scott and Jeff for the opportunities. It was a great experience."

Starks will return to the Northwest to drive for Doug Rutz in the Western Sprint Tour Northwest Speedweek, which features events this Sunday at Sunset Speedway in Banks, Ore.; Monday at Cottage Grove Speedway in Cottage Grove, Ore.; Tuesday at Willamette Speedway in Lebanon, Ore.; Wednesday at Coos Bay Speedway in Coos Bay, Ore.; Friday at Siskiyou Motor Speedway in Yreka, Calif., and Saturday at Southern Oregon Speedway in White City, Ore.
