Inside Line Promotions – ROSSBURG, Ohio (June 29, 2016) – Josh Baughman wrapped up his trip to the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions Ohio Speedweek with his best performance of the grueling week last Saturday at Eldora Speedway.
Baughman opened the night by qualifying 14th quickest before he won a heat race to lock himself into the dash. He then placed eighth in the dash to line up on the outside of the fourth row for the main event.
“Our bigger track program is really good,” he said. “Only being there two times we don’t have much experience, but we were fifth quickest in hot laps so we had speed right away. I felt like we had a really good night going. I wish it would have finished that way. A driver slid me and four wheeled me into the wall and cut my left rear tire late in the race.”
Baughman spent most of the race in the top 10 and he was running ninth when another competitor put him in the wall. Baughman was unable to finish the race and he was credited with a 21st-place result.
However, the night showed progress following a rough previous three Ohio Speedweek events last week.
“I felt like we had speed,” he said. “We just couldn’t qualify. We didn’t get things right to make those two most important laps each night. However, with 410s not being our primary stuff I felt like we had a good week. We could race our way forward.”
Baughman qualified 39th quickest overall at Sharon Speedway in Hartford, Ohio, a week ago Tuesday. He maneuvered from seventh to fifth place in a heat race to miss locking into the feature by only one spot. Baughman then won the C Main and advanced from 17th to 13th in the B Main.
The following night he timed in 28th quickest before maneuvering from eighth to sixth place in a heat race at Atomic Speedway in Chillicothe, Ohio, before ending 11th in the B Main.
Last Friday Baughman qualified 33rd quickest overall, placed 10th in a heat race and was unable to finish the B Main because of a parts failure at Lima Motorsports Park in Lima, Ohio.
“We made gains throughout the week, which I think were evident at Eldora,” he said. “I want to thank Chris and Lance Moss for the 410 Ford engine. That thing ripped. It was really, really good.”
Baughman will take this weekend off before making his debut at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa., on July 8 and racing on July 9 at Sharon Speedway in Hartford, Ohio, for the Lou Blaney Memorial with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions.
Additionally, Baughman recently acquired a new merchandise trailer that he will have with him throughout the remainder of the season. All new apparel will debut with the trailer at Lernerville Speedway.
