Taylor Grabs Another Second-Place Finish in a Midget

Inside Line Promotions – CALHAN, Colo. (June 28, 2016) – Zac Taylor finished second last weekend for the third midget feature in a row and he is more than happy with the results of the Todd Henry owned team.

“To finish second to Keith Rauch … he has over 70 wins with the Rocky Mountain Midget Racing Association (RMMRA),” he said. “We had a caution late in the race and I had a shot at him, but I just don’t have the experience yet … the knowledge to make that move around such a great veteran.”

Taylor was making just his fourth start this season in a midget with the RMMRA at El Paso County Raceway on Saturday. He won a heat race before starting the main event on the inside of the third row.

“Keith started second in the feature and I started fifth,” he said. “He just checked out. He was ready to lap the fourth-place car when we had a red. I got up to third and on the restart took second and the yellow came out. I just followed him and finished second.

“It was Fan Appreciation Night and the promoter, who does a great job with this track, brought us all on the front stretch and we got to meet with the fans. It was a lot of fun. My car owner is very happy. And a happy car owner makes for a happy race car driver.”

Taylor will be back behind the wheel of his 305ci sprint car this Friday and Saturday at Dodge City Raceway Park in Dodge City, Kan., with the United Rebel Sprint Series (URSS); on Sunday at WaKeeney Speedway in WaKeeney, Kan., with the URSS; and on Monday at El Paso County Raceway with the 305 sprint car in the Colorado Alliance Tour.
