Inside Line Promotions – JACKSON, Minn. (June 23, 2016) – Brady Bacon stood atop the podium after winning the first AMSOIL USAC Sprint Cars event at Jackson Motorplex in approximately 28 years on Thursday during the first night of an action-packed weekend tripleheader.
“It’s changed a lot since the last time I was here,” said Bacon, who last competed at the track in a winged sprint car in 2011. “The facility is super, super, super nice. It’s pretty spectacular now.”
Bacon took advantage of his front row starting position as he stalked polesitter Dave Darland for the first 14 laps of the first USAC show at Jackson Motorplex since 1988. Bacon capitalized in traffic to take the lead on Lap 15 and he held off a late rally from Robert Ballou, who took over second place with 10 laps remaining and cut Bacon’s lead from more than 1.5 seconds to less than four hundredths of a second with five laps to go.
“The track was really, really good for us,” Bacon said. “A lot of places don’t put enough water on it. We need a little bit more water to put on a good show. I hope we did. Me and Ballou were battling at the end pretty close.”
Bacon maneuvered through traffic efficiently to score his second AMSOIL USAC Sprint Cars victory of the season and extend his lead in the championship standings.
Ballou picked up a runner-up result with Chase Stockon, who opened the night by establishing a new track record and setting quick time during qualifying, rounding out the podium.
C.J. Leary ended fourth with Darland fifth.
Chris Windom, Aaron Farney and Ballou each earned a heat race win.
Liquid Nitro IMCA 305 Sprint Cars
Kaleb Johnson took advantage of a late-race restart to garner his first Liquid Nitro IMCA 305 Sprint Cars triumph this year.
Jesse Lindberg led the first 13 laps before Johnson took over the top spot with two laps remaining. Lindberg held on to a second-place result with Bruce Anderson placing third, Brady Forbrook fourth and Michael Stien fifth.
Colin Smith and Forbrook both captured a heat race victory.
Anderson and Lindberg are now tied atop the championship standings.
Bohl’s Small Engine & Marine IMCA Sport Modifieds
Matthew Looft won his second Bohl’s Small Engine & Marine IMCA Sport Modifieds feature of the season.
Jason Andrews, who charged from 12th to the runner-up result, finished less than six tenths of a second behind Looft. Dan Paplow was third, Justin Schuder fourth and Dustin Wiederhoeft fifth.
Justin Remus, Looft and Andrews were the heat race winners.
